Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know before welcoming one of our dachshunds home.

a) Where are your puppies raised?
All of our puppies are born and raised with us in a family environment in Mornington Penninsula, Victoria.
From their earliest weeks, they grow up surrounded by everyday household life, human interaction and plenty of individual attention. We believe puppies should experience family life long before they leave to join a family of their own.
b) Are your Dachshunds purebred?
Yes. We specialise in purebred Miniature Long-Haired Dachshunds, and our breeding program is founded on Japanese bloodlines with pedigree documentation from the Japan Kennel Club (JKC).
Our bloodlines, temperament and the wellbeing of our dogs are central to the decisions we make when planning each litter.
c) How often do you have puppies available?
We intentionally have a limited number of litters each year.
Our mothers have no more than one litter per year, allowing them plenty of time to rest, recover and enjoy life as part of our family.
For us, responsible breeding is about quality of care rather than quantity of puppies.
d) What care do puppies receive before going home?
Before leaving us, every puppy receives:
• Veterinary health examination
• Age-appropriate vaccination
• Microchipping
• Up to date with regular worming treatment
• Individual health and vaccination records
e) When are puppies vaccinated?
Puppy vaccination generally begins at around 6–8 weeks of age.
Further vaccinations are required as the puppy grows. The Australian Veterinary Association recommends core vaccination from 6–8 weeks, repeated every 2–4 weeks, with the final puppy core dose generally given no earlier than 16 weeks. Your veterinarian should determine the appropriate schedule for your individual puppy.
When your puppy leaves us, we'll provide their existing vaccination information so you can continue their care with your own veterinarian.
f)When can my puppy go home?
Our puppies never leave us before 8 weeks of age and only go home when we believe they are physically and developmentally ready for their next chapter, usually between 10-12 weeks.
g) What do I receive when my puppy comes home?
Every puppy leaves us with more than just their belongings.
New families receive their puppy's relevant health and vaccination records, microchip information, feeding and care guidance, and information to help make the transition into their new home as smooth as possible.
We also provide ongoing breeder support as your puppy grows.
